Todd Joseph Danforth is a documentary and editorial portrait photographer and writer born and raised in the Blackstone River Valley of Massachusetts. As a gay man who grew up in a rural, post-industrial New England town, his photographic work is deeply informed by loss and explores themes of memory and legacy through the lens of family–both biologic and chosen. Ongoing projects include a decade-long portrait series of his family exploring how we cope with loss and its aftermath, as well as portraits of elders in the LGBTQ+ community meant to bridge the gap between generations of queer folks.
He splits his time between Palm Springs, California and Boston, Massachusetts with his partner Adam. Together, they own and operate Danforth Neal, a wedding photography studio devoted to visual storytelling and documenting LGBTQ+ love in its many forms.
